Speaker A:And that's one thing that I want to share with everybody today.
Speaker A:We're going to be talking with Matt Walton.
Speaker A:Contain your pools.
Speaker A:And we're going to be talking about container shipping pools and what it could do for your backyard.
Speaker A:And it is a great, great, viable solution to having your backyard torn up for three months.
Speaker A:And I always tell everybody, and they say, well, what's the advantage of having a container pool?
Speaker A:Well, what happens if down the road you want to take, you have an in ground pool put in your yard and you want to sell the house?
Speaker A:You have to sell the pool with the house.
Speaker A:Well, with some very good architecture, you can easily craft your container pool into your home's landscape.
Speaker A:And if you do decide to move, you can take it with you, which is really good.
Speaker A:But I want everybody to hang tight because we've got a lot more coming your way.
Speaker A:And don't forget, we're here every week talking about everything.
Speaker A:Shipping, container homes and pools.
Speaker A:So let's get ready to make a big splash with Boxcar Universe.
Speaker A:And again, welcome to all our listeners today.
Speaker A:It is going to be a great show.
Speaker A:Our guest today is Matt Walton, who is here with us.
Speaker A:And Matt, welcome to Boxcar Universe again.
Speaker A:It's great to see you.
Speaker C:Great.
Speaker A:Great to have you on the show and just so many good things coming on.
Speaker A:And this is.
Speaker A:This, I gotta believe, is your season.
Speaker C:Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker C:Thanks for having me, Steve.
Speaker C:It's always great chatting with you, but it is, it is our season.
Speaker C:Things are picking up tremendously, which is awesome.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:I mean, summertime is usually good and people start thinking about, you know, we got past tax season, so hopefully a lot of our listeners get a good sized tax return.
Speaker A:And I think having, you know, doing something with your backyard.
Speaker A:And I always say that whether it's the, your interior of your home or the exterior, you want to make sure that you have your personality reflected in your home.
Speaker A:Because, you know, back years ago when, when the real estate was really booming, people used to buy homes and they used, it was just.
Speaker A:You mean people buy homes for an investment now, but before then, you know, they buy a home and they live in it for two years and then they'd sell it and it was just more like a pit stop along the way for them to make some money.
Speaker A:But it never, a lot of homes never reflected their personality.
Speaker A:And if you've got a family and you're thinking about, well, you know, what would be a great additive to my home's landscape?
Speaker A:A container pool.
Speaker A:It should be your, it should be your first thought.
Speaker A:Matt, tell us, tell our listeners a little bit.
Speaker A:For those of us, our listeners who never heard of your company, tell us a little bit about your company and also why container pools.
Speaker C:Yeah, so.
Speaker C:So contain your pools is the company.
Speaker C:We're based out of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Speaker C:And before we get into anything pools, what we do is my business is, is used as my ministry and it's a second chance employer.
Speaker C:So what that means is that all of my guys at some point or currently are in prison.
Speaker C:The majority of them will hop on public transportation at the prison or from the prison and arrive to my factory in the morning time, every single morning.
Speaker C:And so that's first and foremost, that's kind of a small sliver as to why we do what we do.
Speaker C:And we love on the guys and show them the heartbeat of Christ while training them and teaching them what it's like to be men and then also giving them very valuable skills that they can take, you know, through the, through their life.
Speaker C:So then we get into the pools and what we do is we have, we build pools out of shipping containers.
Speaker C:I've got one model that I offer right now that is an 8 by 20 model.
Speaker C:And what separates me from everybody else outside of the customer service and outside of how we handle warranty is the quality of the product.
Speaker C:And I know that's a, you're going to hear that from probably everybody, but with mine is A fiberglass shell or a fiberglass pool that literally goes inside the container in comparison to a liner or spray epoxy or a roll on epoxy or similar finishes.
Speaker C:And I also, because of the fiberglass shell, I can insulate the inside of the container so that just aids more in year round swimming.
Speaker C:And then we set ourselves apart on how we do really the project from head to toe.
Speaker C:The structural steel is overrated for what we do, the paint that we use.
Speaker C:So just from head to toe, the quality of the product, and that's in a nutshell, who we are and what.
Speaker A:We do, you know.
Speaker A:And again, it is a very nice, sleek operation that you have there, especially with what you could do.
Speaker A:And you know, you see a lot of people out there wondering like, and I guess there's, you know, there's something to be said about people with, talking about, well, I want to be a DIY person, you know, but you know, going back and doing some research and seeing, you know, the things that go into building, you know, your container pools, it is something that I would strongly recommend for any DIY person not to do because there is so many variables in there and you have to be skilled in a lot of different, you know, professions to be able to make it work and come out right.
Speaker A:Not to mention there are so many different types of products.
Speaker A:And I know from my visits up to your factory, Matt, that there are, you're, you're constantly improving, looking for different products to use to make your product better.
Speaker A:And I remember that we had that long discussion about your quest for finding the material to seal the windows in properly without leaking.
Speaker A:And that was, I think that was, that was probably a milestone in your quest on materials when you were looking for them.
Speaker C:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker C:So always looking to improve windows was one of the first things that we, that we improved, I spent want to say close to about a year researching and for the last 16 months, 15, 16 months, we've had 100% success.
Speaker C:So that, that right there is awesome.
Speaker C:The windows are, I would say about 75, 80% of our builds are builds with windows.
Speaker C:And so they're going to short term rent owners or managers that, you know, having a window with people swimming in it, you know, just adds to the allure.
Speaker C:And when you're putting photos on the different short term rental websites, then that, that's what, you know, attracts the, the visitors.
Speaker C:So that was huge for us.
Speaker C:Other things that we like insulation on the inside of the container.
Speaker C:I used to use a Lowe's insulation that I would go and just buy from Lowe's that was an inch thick and that would create container rain on the inside of the container.
Speaker C:So I, I switched to a ceramic insulation that's sprayed on.
Speaker C:It's not an expanding foam insulation.
Speaker C:It's actually, it's, it feels like a ceramic finish.
Speaker C:It has a coarse finish to it but, but goes on dries to about 30mil thickness and is a good help in aiding in year round swimming deflects heat.
Speaker C:And so that, that has taken our product to another level.
Speaker C:And then the fibergl is another one of those that in and of itself sets us apart.
Speaker C:But the fiberglass is built three times greater than the national code.
Speaker C:And because of the core mats and, and the different layers that are built into it, it almost acts as like an insulation on the inside of that fiberglass shell.
Speaker C:And coupled with the insulation on the inside of the container and the right cover and the right heater or a heater, then that's what's going to get you swimming year round.
Speaker C:So those, those product improvements right there have made all the difference.
Speaker C:And then I recently changed my plumbing layout to increase turnover.
Speaker C:I can turn these things over in about 45 minutes now and which is just huge for cleanliness and maintaining your pool.
Speaker C:And then added a standalone filter.
Speaker C:So always, always looking to improve.
Speaker A:Yeah, I mean, and it doesn't, like you say, all these processes don't happen overnight.
Speaker A:But I'm curious when people started doing container pools.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:And I know the history of how you got started in it.
Speaker A:Were they doing windows then or is that something that you had an innovation to do?
Speaker C:Yeah, so they've been around for a while.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C: scene, which was right around: Speaker C:And a lot of us went through figuring out how to not get them to leak, you know, and, and finding the right sealant and the right application, the right install method.
Speaker C:And so what, where, where I'm different is I'm installing it directly to a fiberglass shell.
Speaker C:I'm not installing it directly to a container metal or anything like that.
Speaker C:So, so I have to use a little bit different, you know, different products to seal it up.
Speaker C:But, but yeah, they've been around and, and, and I've got them again, 75, 80% of my clients end up and use them.
Speaker C:And what we do is I use an inch and a half acrylic and it ranges from 2 to 3 foot in width or height.
Speaker C:Excuse me.
Speaker C:And then I go about 7.
Speaker C:About 7 foot wide or long.
Speaker C:So it gives you plenty of room to, to see inside the pool.
Speaker C:Plus it's just a cool feature to look out if you have some cool landscape.
Speaker C:Or it can be a safety feature as well.
Speaker C:If parents want to see their kids swimming around and just want to have that added layer.
Speaker C:There's kind of a twofold to that.
Speaker A:You know, and I think that's important too.
Speaker A:And I, I agree with you about the allure of having a window in the side of the container.
Speaker A:And people ask me about it.
Speaker A:I mean if you are.
Speaker A:Have a property.
Speaker A:Yes, you could mount.
Speaker A:You could have it sit right on top of the ground, you know, and have all four sides above ground.
Speaker A:You could, you could bury them in the ground if you want or you could highlight the.
Speaker A:The one that I like, Matt, is where you could put it in the side of a hill where you can actually see the window on one side.
Speaker A:The rest is buried in the hill, so to speak.
Speaker A:And then we could do it like a.
Speaker A:Build a nice deck and outside patio area in front of the pool window and even, even build something with a.
Speaker A:With a shade deck on top of it.
Speaker A:So this way you could get out of the pool, come down, relax, and you're right there.
Speaker A:And it just, it makes, it just brings the whole, the whole family together.
Speaker A:Add something to do in the backyard more so than just.
Speaker A:I think it's just a pool in the ground because it's, it's something that's innovative and it's a conversation piece because not everybody has it.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:And you bring up a good point.
Speaker C:Like just the different install types.
Speaker C:I think a lot of times when people hear if you're anything like me, you hear container pool, you think man above ground.
Speaker C:But we do have the ability to put it above ground partially in ground, fully in ground, on a hillside, on piers.
Speaker C:Every variation that you can think of, it can go on existing patios.
Speaker C:If you're, if.
Speaker C:If you're house or the foundation was engineered to support the weight.
Speaker C:There's so many applications.
Speaker C:We.
Speaker C:We've got one client or one lead that I'm talking to right now of doing it up on his second deck.
Speaker C:He's got a beach house in, in.
Speaker C:In Mississippi.
Speaker C:And so the variations are awesome.
Speaker C:And then you can get really creative.
Speaker C:I have one that's on the fifth story of a mid rise out in, in Boise, Idaho.
Speaker C:And it's really cool.
Speaker C:They did it sits above ground, but when you're looking out the back, you would not be able to tell cool Tiered wooden decking around it.
Speaker C:And they really utilize the container really, really well.
Speaker C:So that's one of the awesome things about it is, is we're not limited to how we can install.
Speaker C:And a lot of people think since since it's a container, we're talking 8 by 20, that it's really small and you can only fit a couple people in there.
Speaker C:But that's.
Speaker C:That is not true.
Speaker C:I can't tell you how many times people come into my factory and talk about how much bigger it is than they thought it was.
Speaker C:And we've got video or a picture of, of about eight or nine adults or excuse me, I think there's five adults and three kids swimming.
Speaker C:And they have massive floaties in there as well and still room to spare.
Speaker C:So not only can you install it really any, any way you like, but you can also fit your whole family and then some into it.
Speaker C:And, and then just last thing, when you're installing it, those different types, there are different things to consider.
Speaker C:So when you go above, below ground, just know that my, my containers were engineered to support that weight.
Speaker C:But you do need to have a moisture wicking barrier in between the earth and the container.
Speaker C:So there's different ways that we can attack that.
Speaker C:That can be a price performer or it can be really expensive, depending on the needs of the project.
Speaker C:So.
Speaker C:So as y' all are considering, as your guests are considering a container pool and different install types, what we do is we'll walk them through everything to consider the Good, Bad and the Ugly.
Speaker C:And, and we have answers for all of them.
Speaker A:So I like that the Good Bad nailed an old movie.
Speaker A:Good Bad and Ugly.
Speaker A:Was that with Clint Eastwood?
Speaker A:I think it was.
Speaker A:Anyway, sorry for retrogressing.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:But no, seriously, you know, and I think for those of you out there who've checked out our Boxcar Universe Facebook page as well as my page, Steve Dubel, and we've had pictures the last time Susan and I came out where we were in the container.
Speaker A:And there's tons of room in that pool, in that container, and it was an 8 by 20.
Speaker A:I mean, it's just like you say, people just, they think 8 by 20, they don't think it's as big.
Speaker A:Well, it goes the same when people turn around and they want a casita built.
Speaker A:You know, 8 by 20 doesn't sound like a lot, but when you think about how it's laid out inside with the different areas, it's pretty compact.
Speaker A:I've even seen some of these other builders who do these collapsible fold homes.
Speaker A:I mean, there's some that are really small, I mean, but yet they have everything in it.
Speaker A:And when you're inside, it's compact, but it doesn't, it doesn't appear to be that small.
Speaker A:When you see it from the outside, you're like, oh my God, you know, how does anybody live in here?
Speaker A:Well, it's called sustainable living.
Speaker A:Especially when you don't.
Speaker A:You got to deal with and live within your means.
Speaker A:But putting container pools in your backyard are something that we want to talk a little bit more about and some of the do's and don'ts and some of the things that you have to be aware of if you're going to put one in your backyard.
Speaker A:One of the things that I know my architect always brings up when we talk about it obviously are city guidelines and stuff like that that you have to consider, much like when you consider putting a traditional pool in.
Speaker A:So I want everybody to hang tight.
Speaker A:We're going to talk about all that and more right here on Boxcar Universe.

Speaker A:All right, we are back and you're listening to Boxcar Universe.
Speaker A:And we are here today with Matt Walton from contain your pools and from the.
Speaker A:From that wonderful city, Las Vegas, Nevada.
Speaker A:And by the way, Matt, how, how is Vegas doing?
Speaker A:Is it getting warm and toasty up there like it is down here?
Speaker C:Starting to, yeah.
Speaker C:Actually feels pretty good though right now.
Speaker C:So we, we got some rain the last few days that was, I think I heard was the record rainfall for May already.
Speaker C:So that was, that was unique.
Speaker C:Seeing water fall out of the sky here in Vegas.
Speaker C:You don't see that.
Speaker A:I know, I know.
Speaker A:We had some of that this week, too.
Speaker A:It was very strange.
Speaker A:Just when I thought I could put my sweatshirt away and like, oh, no, it's getting chilly again in the morning.
Speaker A:I have to walk my door, put the sweatshirt on.
Speaker A:But, you know, thinking about weather and how things affect it, you know, much like, you know, regular traditional pools have, you know, at least some of them, not all people, they want to put a cover on your pool.
Speaker A:And one of the things that always I thought was very good the first time I came up to the your place, Matt, was the fact that you've got a system of several different types of covers that you could put on top of a container pool.
Speaker A:Whether.
Speaker A:And it doesn't make a difference where if it's sitting above ground, half in the ground.
Speaker A:But it is a, it's a system to keep the water clean, which I think.
Speaker A:But, you know, if I have one, I would want to do that, not just leave it open to, you know, freaky rainstorms or hail storms.
Speaker A:I mean, I saw some on Facebook the other day.
Speaker A:It was a freaky rainstorm and hailstorm out in part, I can't remember, it was somewhere in Arizona.
Speaker A:And I was like, you know, you don't want to have to go out and clean your pool every day.
Speaker A:So you want to have, yeah.
Speaker A:Some kind of COVID on it.
Speaker C:You have to.
Speaker C:Yeah, I mean, it's, it's, it's, it's essential especially for, for these container pools.
Speaker C:And so a few things that it does, you hit on one of the major things that helps keep it clean.
Speaker C:It's also going to help a little bit with water evaporation.
Speaker C:So it could help with, you know, not having to fill your pull up all the time.
Speaker C:The other things that, that it's going to do is, is retain the heat.
Speaker C:So it'll cut your heat times down significantly.
Speaker C:It'll help you again just heat your pool quicker.
Speaker C:And those are when you do a heater in a cover that really aids and, and covers the year round swimming aspect of it.
Speaker A:Yeah, and that's so in you mentioned in the, in our first segment about how you use the fiberglass inserts versus other people using epoxies and other things like that and people that do use that.
Speaker A:I have to believe that those containers really in, they don't hold the heat as well to have you know, for year round swimming and vice versa when the climate changes, I mean it's in the middle of the winter, it's going to, it's going to be cold where then it's going to be like no insulation.
Speaker A:I mean I got to believe that some of those epoxy coatings are great to keep, you know, to keep the rust away, but I don't think it's going to do much for insulating the pool.
Speaker C:Yeah, exactly that you get the, you have the COVID the fiberglass shell and the insulation that's on the interior side of the container.
Speaker C:Yeah, those, those, those things right there.
Speaker C:Just a fully insulated pool.
Speaker C:And again it's, it's a year round swimming and that's so popular because that's what, that's if, if you're gonna spend you know, 30, 50 on up on a pool, I, I, for me personally I want to be able to use, utilize it year round and, and that's one of the things that we have to do or that, that those three elements allow for our container pools to do.
Speaker C:No winterizing is needed.
Speaker C:When you, when you do those things you're going control as part of your pump that's going to automatically kick on and then we program that heater to come on with it so that you get some hot water flowing through there when maybe you're gone on vacation and that way you're not having to drain your pool and then restart it and rebalance chemicals come, you know, the, the start of the swim season.
Speaker C:So, so yeah, those are, those are few different pros to owning a container pool for sure.
Speaker A:Absolutely.
Speaker A:And tell our listeners Matt, a little bit about the warranties and how long a container pool will last.
Speaker C:Yeah, so our warranty goes up to five years and that, that covers fiberglass shell.
Speaker C:We have a warranty for our container that is a three year warranty and then we have a one to three year warranty depending on the equipment that you go with strai from the manufacturer of the equipment.
Speaker C:Our fiberglass shells are really built to last a lifetime.
Speaker C:We actually share a story of a fiberglass shell being pulled out of the ground.
Speaker C:It didn't have a container around it and all they had to do was wash off the part that was exposed to the elements and they were able to reuse that same pool.
Speaker C:This is after 30 years of it being buried.
Speaker C:So fiberglass is one of those just superior products that's going to last you a lifetime.
Speaker C:Downside to it, and this is a downside to some and to others it doesn't matter.
Speaker C:But is the, we finish it with a gel coat color or a gel coat finish that, that adds a sheen to it.
Speaker C:And over the years, you know, you get about 12 years out of it, 10 to 12 years before you really start to notice.
Speaker C:And then that 12 year mark comes, you can, you can notice it more.
Speaker C:And if you love that gel coat finish, then you're, you would want to redo the gel coat at that time.
Speaker C:But if, if you're not concerned about having that slippery or sleek, excuse me, that sleek finish to it, then that's something that you would not need to redo.
Speaker C:So yeah, that, that right there and there, there are other pieces of equipment that go up to about seven to 10 years.
Speaker C:It just depends on what you end up and choose.
Speaker C:But I'll tell you this too.
Speaker C:I'll just.
Speaker C:With the warranty stuff, one thing that I do not do is I don't do like a prorated warranty at least at this time, because I want to have an all inclusive warranty that covers everything from head to toe for the period that we've agreed to.
Speaker C:And that's what my warranty does.
Speaker C:It doesn't, you know, knock off things over time.
Speaker C:So one to, we'll just say 10 years depending on the equipment, but on average one to five years is how long my poles are warrantied for, you.
Speaker A:Know, and that's always good to know.
Speaker A:And you know, thinking about the finish, I mean, my personal preference, after 12 years, you know, if I, it looks really cool when it's new and shiny and I think if it starts to like dull a little bit and it's time just for like a recoat, I mean, I would, I would do the recoat just to make, just for looks.
Speaker A:I mean, if it's not necessary for, you know, for wear, unlike, you know, a, you know, a foam roof that when the, when the upper, the upper coatings start to fade away and you start to see foam, I mean, you're not going to see you know, fiberglass, it's going to be worn away like that.
Speaker A:When it dulls, all you need to do is just recoat it.
Speaker A:It's going to be, it's going to look really cool.
Speaker C:Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:And when, when you get to that point, we have guys that, that we would recommend coming out there and doing that work that do some incredible work across the country.
Speaker C:So we've, we've curated and continued to curate a network of people to handle different warranty issues that pop up.
Speaker C:And no matter where you're at, doesn't matter if you're in the most isolate area or in the, in the states, we have not run into an issue of not being able to get somebody to you.
Speaker C:So.
Speaker C:So yeah, and those warranties just to, just to finish that out, that's really one of the ways that we set ourselves apart.
Speaker C:So when, when you go with my company, you'll more than likely be speaking with my wife throughout the process when it comes to warranty.
Speaker C:And she is just incredible.
Speaker C:She.
Speaker C:One of the things that we make sure is our warranties get taken care of very, very quickly.
Speaker C:Most of our clients are short term rental clients.
Speaker C:So every second that they're down, they're, they're losing money and we understand that.
Speaker C:So we want to make sure they're up and running.
Speaker C:So, so that's where we set ourselves apart outside of quality and just, just dealing with a family owned company is that right there, the warranty?
Speaker A:So, you know, I think that's so important.
Speaker A:Yeah, obviously a company that stands behind, you know, their product and stuff is always good because there's so many people out there who have dealt with companies that, and I've seen, I've seen it in solar where companies from the past are not around anymore and then some of the homeowners are left holding the bag, you know, because if they need service or something like that, however, things like that do create new business because then there's a need for people and one of my, one of our, one of our associates we work with who we've had on the show actually goes back out and they're able to do that type of work where they'll go out and they'll remove the tiles if there's tiles there and they'll go after, replace solar panels and stuff like that.
Speaker A:So I guess, you know, along the way.
Speaker A:But it's, it's much easier for homeowners to know that the warranty's in place, the company isn't going anywhere.
Speaker A:And there are a company that is a faith based company that's going to stand on their, on their reputation, which I think is really, really important.
Speaker A:But one more thing I want to cover before we go to break is when if you're thinking of getting a container pool, one of the things that obviously you're going to need to do and we'll go through some of these other things on the other side of the break, but you need to put it down on.
Speaker A:The best solution is to put it down on a pad.
Speaker A:And Matt, correct me if I'm wrong, I think the engineers recommended about a 5 inch slab to put the container on.
Speaker C:Yeah, 6 inch slab.
Speaker A:Yeah, 6 inch.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:So I mean I think that's.
Speaker A:And that's just something that if you are thinking of doing that and if you are in.
Speaker A:Well actually anywhere in the country, my company Ideal Home Improvement can help you organize that and point you in the right direction.
Speaker A:As far as any permits that you may need or anything that you need in the way of prep work to get everything get electric over to where you're going to have the container.
Speaker A:You know, all that different kind of pre setup work we can help you with as well.
Speaker A:So that when a container pool gets delivered to your house and I think it's, it's, you know, I don't know.
Speaker A:I don't know Matt.
Speaker A:It's just me.
Speaker A:I mean the spectacle of having your pool lifted over your house and put in your backyard is something all your neighbors want to see.
Speaker A:And I don't know what it is, but it's something very interesting to watch.
Speaker C:Yeah, no doubt about that.
Speaker C:Yeah, it's cool.
Speaker C:Watching a six thousand dollar pool or six thousand pound pool.
Speaker C:Excuse me, go over your house.
Speaker C:It's a little nerve wracking but, but it's awesome to watch.
Speaker C:Yeah, we, and we just going back to your, the foundation comment we.
Speaker C:So 6 inch number 3 rebar is what we recommend for most applications.
Speaker C:Now that can change.
Speaker C:I mean you can do Pierce, you can do a steel beam, steel frame.
Speaker C:You can do type 2 compacted gravel.
Speaker C:There's other gravels as well that you can go with like a CAC gravel.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:As long as you have the foundation that you choose supports about 38,000 pounds of weight.
Speaker C:That's what we would recommend and we provide all of that information.
Speaker C:So when you choose us, we're going to send you information for every variation of install.
Speaker C:And if we don't have it yet, we haven't encountered it yet.
Speaker C:But we, we have the, the engineers to, to be able to, to to, to come up with a plan in order to accommodate your, your specific install.
Speaker A:So, so yeah, yeah, I think, and that's so important so that when people go there, it's not just, you know, you're purchasing the pool.
Speaker A:Like they need to know all those little particulars about well, what do I need to do ahead of time?
Speaker A:And then obviously, you know, what do I need to do, how do I take care of it and all that other stuff.
Speaker A:But being able to have you as the manufacturer lay all that out for them, I think that it's invaluable.
Speaker A:I mean, I mean it's almost like if you purchase a vehicle, well they, you know, when purchase everybody purchase a vehicle, hopefully that, a new one that you get an owner's manual and to have an owner's manual about what to expect and what to do and maybe if some things along the way you have to troubleshoot, you know, Matt and his company is always there for you.
Speaker A:So I think that's, it's a, it's a great way to do business and it's a great product for people to enjoy.
Speaker A:And like I say, we're getting into summer, so it's going to be about that time.
Speaker A:We want to jump in the pool, make a big splash.
Speaker C:Come on.
Speaker C:Yep.
Speaker A:Oh yeah.
Speaker A:All right, everybody hang tight.
Speaker A:When we come back, we're going to talk a little more about some of the other things that you need to be aware of when you're getting your pool installed and things to look out for with your city, municipality.
Speaker A:So everybody hang tight.

Speaker G:Hi, I'm Sean with Mr.
Speaker G:Electric and I have a tip to help make your life better.
Speaker G:One important reminder is to call a qualified electrician.
Speaker G:When you have frequent problems, problems with blowing fuses or tripping circuit breakers.
Speaker G:When a circuit breaker trips or a fuse blows, it's indicating that you have a problem with some other part of the circuit.
Speaker G:If your breaker trips more than once, you should have a qualified electrician come out and take a look at it.
Speaker G:Contrary to what may be acceptable, you really shouldn't try to continuously try to reset the breaker because there may be a problem somewhere else down the circuit and you could be causing a fire hazard.
Speaker G:There could be a loose connection or some other form a problem on the circuit and every time you reset the circuit breaker it could be causing a spark at the other end.
Speaker G:We recommend having a qualified electrician come out and check on the condition of the circuit and make sure that the circuit does not have any problems and it could just be a bad breaker also.
Speaker G:But you definitely want to have a qualified electrician check that out.
Speaker G:To have someone come out from our team may only take a portion of a day, but it could potentially save you a lot of money or your life.
Speaker G:And that's just another way, Mr.
Speaker G:Electric, it has the power to make your life better.

Speaker D:Hi, I'm Steve Dubell from Boxcar Universe.
Speaker D:For the latest in container innovation and expert insights, tune into our weekly podcast, Boxcar Universe.
Speaker D:Ready to start your project?
Speaker D: -: Speaker D:Listen, learn and build with.
Speaker A:All right, we are back and you're listening to Boxcar Universe and we are in the midst of our, we'll call it our spring pool sale and we're talking about Container Pools with Matt Walton and we're going to get into that here in a little bit and find let you know exactly what you need to know in regards of, well, how much do container pools cost and what do I need to do and all that kind of good stuff.
Speaker A:But but first I want to just finish up with a couple of things that we were talking about from the last segment when we were talking about how to mount your pools and what to put them on.
Speaker A:But some of the things that you've got to realize that you've got to take care of that we can help you with as well.
Speaker A:Meaning Boxcar Universe.
Speaker A:Now that we could help you with, obviously touching base with your municipality.
Speaker A:Depending on where you want to put your pool, you always still have to worry about setbacks to your property line.
Speaker A:I know one other person that and I share this with Magic.
Speaker A:Matt and I talked about this in about a year ago I had a lady that Was interested in putting a pool container pool on her property in 8 by 20.
Speaker A:And it was very strange that.
Speaker A:And some people may not understand this, but sometimes it happens.
Speaker A:The front of the house, where it is, does it match the plans that are in the city, where the city has the front of the house, like virtually on the side street, where the side of the house is actually supposed to be the front of the house on the plants.
Speaker A:So there's something that's wrong there.
Speaker A:Bottom line was where she wanted to put the pool, There was a setback issue.
Speaker A:But at the same time, too, because it was the front of her house on the city plans, she couldn't put a six foot, like, block wall all the way up because the city wouldn't allow to do it.
Speaker A:So she was planning on, okay, well, let's put oleanders up.
Speaker A:Because it was oleanders.
Speaker A:They will allow trees, but they wouldn't allow a block wall.
Speaker A:But then there were some other issues that came up with trying to get through the red tape.
Speaker A:And because of her problem with the way the house is set actually, versus the way it is on the city plans and stuff, she just.
Speaker A:She just gave up on the pool idea and she went to, believe it or not, a pickleball court.
Speaker A:But it's strange.
Speaker A:It's different.
Speaker A:That's why you can't just say that, oh, I have, you know, space in my backyard and I could put a pool here.
Speaker A:Well, you know, the city may not agree with you, much like with this lady.
Speaker A:So the thing is, if you decide that you want to do it, you need to connect with Matt and talk about the type of pool that you want.
Speaker A:And he will refer you to me and we will go over it and touch base with the city for you and find out any speed bumps that we need to get or roadblocks, I should say.
Speaker A:They're more than speed bumps.
Speaker A:Roadblocks that we have to get around to be able to have everything work for you.
Speaker A:So that when.
Speaker A:When the big crane comes and delivers that pool over your house and sets it in place, that everything is cool and it doesn't take that long to hook it up once it's in place, I mean, it gets anchored down and then the utilities get hooked up so all the electrical equipment in the pumps run.
Speaker A:And once that's done, I mean, you know, get the bathing suit out.
Speaker C:That's it?
Speaker A:Yeah, that's it.
Speaker A:That's it.
Speaker A:I mean, it's pretty simple.
Speaker C:Super simple.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:On the.
Speaker C:On the install permits.
Speaker C:So it varies so much and what we do is we, we will provide you with the engineering plans that we have.
Speaker C:And sometimes that suffices, but then other times you have to get site specific engineered plans.
Speaker C:So comes down to that.
Speaker C:Then we'll connect you with the right people.
Speaker C:I've got an engineer that I work with that I can connect you with, obviously Steve, to do some other elements of it.
Speaker C:And then there's some other people on the team as well to where we can help just about anybody get one of our pools in your backyard.
Speaker C:And then on the installation, super simple.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:It comes to you ready to go.
Speaker C:Plug and play.
Speaker C:I water test them at my factory.
Speaker C:I program the equipment, get everything set up, valves turned appropriately.
Speaker C:That way when you set it down on your concrete slab, let's just say, and you have your electrical line that is tied into the electrical panel inside the container.
Speaker C:You turn on the, the breakers and you start filling it with.
Speaker C:Well, you fill it with water.
Speaker C:Then you turn on the breakers and you're swimming same day.
Speaker A:I mean, that's pretty.
Speaker A:How long does it actually take to fill?
Speaker C:A few hours.
Speaker C:It just, if you have one water hose going into it, then, man, I haven't put a hose in there in a long time.
Speaker C:I usually do two or three or four hoses and I can get it filled in a couple hours.
Speaker C:But I would say, you know, six, six or so, six to eight hours.
Speaker A:But you could, you think if somebody put the hose in and it would fill overnight without overflowing.
Speaker C:If you only get about 6, 6.
Speaker A:Hours of sleep or so, Set the alarm, Set the alarm, make sure it doesn't overflow.
Speaker A:Then you don't want to have a flood in your backyard.
Speaker A:Oh my God.
Speaker A:Matt, tell our listeners a little bit about the models that you have and some of the price points.
Speaker C:Yeah, so we have, well, we have one model when it comes to the size, so it's our 8 by 20.
Speaker C:And then I have two models within that 8 by 20 framework.
Speaker C:It's my essentials model that starts at 29, $995 that comes with all the essentials.
Speaker C:So like your pump, your, your two in one skimmer filter, your electrical panel, fiberglass shell insulation, painted container, and then a chlorinator.
Speaker C:So it has.
Speaker C:And then also a LED light comes with all of that.
Speaker C:And that's 29.995.
Speaker C:That is the lowest price that I have ever offered for my pools ever.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker C:And, and it's, and it's incredible.
Speaker C:We've sold, just sold one today.
Speaker C:I'm one shy of What I sold all of last year, so praise God on that second model is 38 500.
Speaker C:And that's our, our signature model.
Speaker C:So that's where it gets into a smart equipment.
Speaker C:Variable speed pump, standalone filter, cartridge filter.
Speaker C:And it comes with one of our heaters as well.
Speaker C:Electrical heater or a, or a gas or propane heater.
Speaker C:So that's our essentials model.
Speaker C:And then there's upgrades from there.
Speaker C:So you can go with different covers, different heaters, sanitation systems, training systems, you name it.
Speaker C:We, we've got the, we've, we've got the chiller.
Speaker C:Even if you want to convert this into a, a cold plunge style of pool, we've got that option.
Speaker C:So.
Speaker C:But again, it's, they start at 29,995 and, and then they just, they go up from there.
Speaker A:Okay, so when you use the, the cold plunge, can it go, can it go back and forth from a cold plunge to a standard pool or.
Speaker A:Absolutely, yeah, it can, absolutely.
Speaker A:Because I know, I know one of my friends has a cold plunge tub that he has outside and he swears by it.
Speaker A:I mean, he says he goes into it every day.
Speaker A:He goes in there for, I don't know, however, minutes you're allowed maybe 5 minutes, 7 minutes, 10 minutes maybe, I don't know.
Speaker A:He gets out, jumps in the pool, and then he goes in the sauna.
Speaker A:And your body just goes through shock.
Speaker A:I can't imagine doing that.
Speaker A:I can't imagine.
Speaker A:I can't wrap my head around that cold plunge.
Speaker A:I'm sorry, it's just me, but apparently it has some significant health values.
Speaker C:Oh, my goodness.
Speaker C:So you've never done one, Steve?
Speaker A:No.
Speaker C:Okay.
Speaker C:All right, so I, I've never done a traditional cold plunge, but I've jumped in a really, really cold lake.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker C:And it is, it's incredible.
Speaker C:So I'm actually, I mentor a lady that just bought into a franchise that they do that cold plunge and all of that.
Speaker C:So I'm going to be one of her clients.
Speaker C:I'm very excited because jumping into lakes and getting out of those, experiencing just the different benefits that comes with that off that one time has, has really motivated me.
Speaker C:So.
Speaker A:Okay, so you brought up a good point.
Speaker A:I remember this, I remember this story because, you know, being from New York and you have the, in New Year's, New Year's Day, you have the polar bears in New York where they all go out in their bathing suits and they jump in the ocean off the beach in New York.
Speaker A:And my friend who used to live out near Coney island.
Speaker A:And he used to live out there.
Speaker A:And you know, we kid about it every year.
Speaker A:Then one year I asked him, I said, well, did you do it this year?
Speaker A:And he said, yes.
Speaker A:I said, how was it?
Speaker A:He said, steve, it was freezing.
Speaker A:And I said, would you do it again?
Speaker A:He said, hell no.
Speaker A:But I mean, but it's something definitely you got to get used to.
Speaker A:I mean, no doubt, you know, so it's something that it's enjoyable if you really like to do that.
Speaker A:But yeah, it's a great thing.
Speaker A:And then, and one thing we want to wrap up before the show.
Speaker A:I want to touch base on the pools.
Speaker A:If they're set up right, they have a definitely therapeutic value.
Speaker A:Not just beyond the point of, you know, you doing the cold plunge, but therapeutic value in the way of whirlpool and helping stimulate, you know, people that have neuropathy and other things that they are troubled with.
Speaker A:And I know even going in a jacuzzi, I mean, something where water is stimulating, you know, your affected area is something that I know I would, I would strongly consider even when I get one, to be able to use for that specific reason.
Speaker A:Maybe not every day, but definitely several times a week.
Speaker C:Yeah, yeah, you.
Speaker C:So you get the heat aspect of it, right?
Speaker C:It can go up to 104 degrees.
Speaker C:Then you can go the other direction.
Speaker C:You can put a chiller on there and get that, get that aspect of it.
Speaker C:Excuse me.
Speaker C:And then you can put different training systems in there.
Speaker C:So we have different swim systems that we offer all the way from like a bike inside the pool to a treadmill.
Speaker C:It's not on my price list, but it is an option that we talk to our clients about or leads about.
Speaker C:And yeah, really, whatever it is that you're looking for when it comes to like how you want to utilize the pool and the benefits you want to get, we have those features available.
Speaker A:Yeah, I mean, and it's just a lot of different variations.
Speaker A:So I want to encourage all our listeners if you are considering getting a pool that you touch base with Matt, or email me here at Boxcar Universe and we will hook all you guys up so that this way you can talk with Matt and see what your needs are, what your vision is and see how Matt can make that happen for you because him and his team do incredible work and I think he's doing some incredible work with his workers that are in the prison.
Speaker A:And he's a big proponent being a faith based business to be able to help people in the community and rehabilitate these workers so they become viable, useful citizens again to be able to help other people.
Speaker A:And I know we could talk about that forever and ever because I know the stories that, Matt, you've told me about how once they get back on their feet, how they feel the urge and the need to be able to go back out and help other people that are in need of some kind of mentoring.
Speaker A:So it's a great process that you started and with God blessing, I know it's going to continue to grow and grow and it's going to be a great help to your company.
Speaker C:Yeah, thanks for sharing that, Steven.
Speaker C:Just real, real quick, one cool story.
Speaker C:So I do what, what we call serve days.
Speaker C:I do them once a month and just in, in prayer with, with the Lord.
Speaker C:He had kind of given me some thoughts about shutting down my, my factory one day a month as a way to give through my business.
Speaker C:And, and so, and to also teach my guys about what it means to serve and, and just have leader and, and really follow that example that we see throughout the Bible.
Speaker C:And, and, and so there's two cool stories within that.
Speaker C:One of my guys, so I pay them all whenever we go out, but one of my guys was like, hey Matt, are you going to pay me?
Speaker C:And I'm like, well, absolutely.
Speaker C:And he was like, well, I'm clocking out.
Speaker C:And he was like, I, I just want to go serve.
Speaker C:He's like, if you're not getting paid, I'm not getting paid.
Speaker C:So that right there was, was just an incredible story of, of a servant leader in action.
Speaker C:The second thing was we went out last, was it last Friday, and we made 100 sandwiches.
Speaker C:We're going to do 500 next month.
Speaker C:But we went out to a couple, a couple streets here in Las Vegas and passed them out.
Speaker C:And the, the feedback that I got from my guys was just incredible because a lot of them have been there, a lot of them were coming from that and to be able to go back and give back was, was very meaningful to them and was also very meaningful to those people that were out there hungry and, and needed some prayer and, and just needed somebody to serve on that day.
Speaker C:So, so yeah, that's one way when, when, if you follow any of my social media stuff, you'll, you'll see businesses, ministry, and that's how we live that out.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And it's, it's a great, it's a great service and I'm so glad that they're able to help those other people that are in need.
Speaker A:So keep up the good Work, Matt.
Speaker C:Thank you, Steve.
Speaker A:Appreciate it.
Speaker A:Matt, tell our listeners how they could contact you and your good company.
