Speaker A:

Since the dawn of time, mankind has searched for ways to shelter themselves from the elements.

Speaker A:

Over the centuries, these shelters have evolved from bamboo huts to concrete towers.

Speaker A:

The last few years, there's been a push to save the planet.

Speaker A:

Are you ready to embark on a more sustainable lifestyle?

Speaker B:

Look no further.

Speaker A:

You're about to enter the adventures of Container home living.

Speaker A:

And now, contractor, radio and TV personality, and your host for Boxcar Universe, Steve Dubel.

Speaker B:

Hi, I'm Steve Dubell, host of Boxcar Universe.

Speaker B:

And here's what's coming up of this week's edition of Boxcar Universe.

Speaker B:

You know, it's summertime, and when you think summertime, one of the first things you want to do is go outside when it's 104 degrees like it is today and jump in the pool.

Speaker B:

Well, Matt Walton is here from contain your pools.

Speaker B:

sharing some of the trends in:

Speaker B:

It just, you know, Matt will tell you people are calling and ringing his phone off the hook because they want to talk to him about this.

Speaker B:

We'll call it a phenomenon, because I think that's what it is, people.

Speaker B:

It's not.

Speaker B:

It's not your traditional dig a hole in the ground and do your plaster and pool and fiberglass and everything else.

Speaker B:

This is something that's unique and it's something that's transportable if you decide to move, and it's quick and easy.

Speaker B:

We help you get your infrastructure in place, make sure everything is done according to code, and then Matt will bring the team in, and they will.

Speaker B:

We'll crane your pool to your.

Speaker B:

To your area where you would like to put it.

Speaker B:

We'll hook it up, and then it's time to fill it up with water and go have some fun.

Speaker B:

Because, I mean, it is the middle of July and we've got plenty of summer left.

Speaker B:

So without further ado, I want to bring Matt Walton from Container Pools back on the show.

Speaker B:

Matt, welcome to Boxcar Universe.

Speaker B:

Again.

Speaker B:

Great to have you here.

Speaker A:

Thanks a ton, Steve.

Speaker A:

Yeah, thanks for having me.

Speaker A:

Thanks for saying all that.

Speaker A:

Always a pleasure to be.

Speaker A:

Be back on your show.

Speaker B:

All right, thank you.

Speaker B:

You know, there.

Speaker B:

There are a lot of different people I've, you know, that I speak to, you know, in some of the, The.

Speaker B:

The major remodels and stuff they were doing, you know, and if I, if they don't have a pool, you Know, and I, and I think that they have the room to put it, to put a container pool in.

Speaker B:

I think it's, it's one thing that I, I always mentioned just to make sure that they know that they have a resource if they decide to put something like in it.

Speaker B:

They just need to look and consider that type of pool instead of a traditional pool.

Speaker B:

Because there are so many different benefits by having a container pool on your property.

Speaker B:

And again, like I said, you could take it with you.

Speaker B:

We could, we could do a lot of other things around it.

Speaker B:

We could build, you know, decks around it and make it an, a focus of your, your backyard.

Speaker B:

And I think that when you don't have a backyard, when people put their backyard design together with your landscaper, I think this is something that you surely could consider.

Speaker A:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker A:

You know, for, for, for homeowners, it's a great option because of how easy it is to truly plug and play.

Speaker A:

You had mentioned, you know, the crane and, and we build everything in, in my factory in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Speaker A:

And then we ship it out to you.

Speaker A:

That way when it arrives to your house, you'll just need to have a foundation for it, have an electrical hookup for it and then a crane that's going to crane the pool into the backyard and set it onto that foundation.

Speaker A:

Your electrician will then make a very, very easy and simple connection to the existing electrical panel inside the container from your house panel.

Speaker A:

And then you'll start filling it up with water and be swimming.

Speaker A:

I mean literally we have people swimming the same exact day.

Speaker A:

So that's one of the things just how quick, easy, easy to maintain because of the lower gallons of the size of the pool.

Speaker A:

The fiberglass pools are much easier to maintain than your standard Pebble Tech or plaster pools.

Speaker A:

They last a long, long, long, long time to where a typical in ground pool is going to need to be replastered about every 10 years.

Speaker A:

And I'm not seeing that with these fiberglass man.

Speaker A:

This fiberglass is built to last.

Speaker A:

And other than that, you know, it's, it really benefits our short term rental clients as well.

Speaker A:

Because all of the things I said about your standard homeowner is the same for the short term rental, except it's going to provide some increased revenue almost immediately and very minimal time, very, very short season to where you'll have to have the Airbnb closed because of construction in comparison to your traditional pool.

Speaker A:

Easy to maintain, can control it from a whole other state and can make it impossible for the guests to control it.

Speaker A:

And man, we're just seeing a lot of value with, specifically with short term rental people because of that.

Speaker B:

So when did you, when did you start connecting with people like with the Airbnb and the VRBO people and in seeing that that was a viable, you know, source, you know, to market your, your product in?

Speaker A:

Yeah, a couple of years ago, you know, just kind of going through figuring out exactly who my client was.

Speaker A:

And once I designed my ideal clients and then figured out, okay, what problem are we solving here, you know, and how does that benefit our clients or our future clients, that was when I started to really realize that, okay, short term rental people, because of the short build times, because of the minimal time of construction, which results in minimal shutdown time for your Airbnb, which just increases revenue.

Speaker A:

I started to hear from managers of short term rental houses or communities that was saying if their house does not have a pool and their neighbor's house does have a pool, their neighbor's house will book many more times than their pool, than their house will without a pool.

Speaker A:

So, you know, once you design your ideal clientele, start to have a brief understanding of different markets and then you've really nailed down how your product can solve those problems.

Speaker A:

Not just short term rental, but also homeowners.

Speaker A:

Then we started to pursue them and started to really develop relationships, do some stuff for some, you know, trade show style events that they have to start getting in front of them.

Speaker A:

And then it was then we got pools in their, in their properties and then things started to really open up for us.

Speaker A:

That was when we started getting phone calls from a bunch of managers of short term rental houses.

Speaker A:

And then eventually they're the owners of those as their managers were advising them to contact us because of their success with their first pool.

Speaker A:

So, yeah, been a couple plus years.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Again, all it takes is just one person to be able to do that.

Speaker B:

And actually I've seen it looking at VRBOs with some of the travel I have to do too.

Speaker B:

And that's one of the things that I always pay a little closer attention to what the actual, the property essentials are that they're going to be having there.

Speaker B:

And I think for somebody who's going to be there on vacation, probably it is a viable source and it's worth paying for unless you have someplace that you need to go.

Speaker B:

But you can literally have your own backyard right there with the pool at your vacation rental.

Speaker B:

And it's, it's a private pool.

Speaker B:

It's not like an area where you have to go into a community pool when There's a lot of different, you know, vacation homes.

Speaker B:

It's just something that's special, that's yours and with your family.

Speaker B:

And I think, I think it's well worth the money.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I agree.

Speaker B:

Yeah, absolutely.

Speaker B:

But, you know, one of the things that I found it, which, which was very interesting too, you know, in.

Speaker B:

In the course of.

Speaker B:

When we first met several years ago and getting introduced to container pools that, you know, we talked.

Speaker B:

You talked about the fiberglass insert in its.

Speaker B:

The ability to actually maintain it easily.

Speaker B:

Is that when I remember when I first started seeing people do container pools, it's.

Speaker B:

Everybody was worried about, you know, sealing up the inside of the container and epoxy, coating it and.

Speaker B:

And then just so it didn't leak.

Speaker B:

But I think, you know, that was, that was the.

Speaker B:

Actually, that was probably like the, the raw beginnings of people utilizing containers for pools.

Speaker B:

Because I think when used, when you put the fiberglass insert inside, that is definitely something that makes it a much better product than if somebody just goes out.

Speaker B:

And I know there's companies out there that still do this.

Speaker B:

They just go epoxy the inside and they try and they paint the outside and they try and make it look as good as possible.

Speaker B:

But it surely doesn't look as good as one of your pools from an aesthetic point of view.

Speaker A:

Yeah, absolutely.

Speaker A:

For me, it's about.

Speaker A:

I'm always thinking through problems to solve.

Speaker A:

And when you look at my products, just the concept of it, you identify multiple problems that it solves, then you get into the actual product itself.

Speaker A:

And what problems do you need to solve within the product itself and leaking or just the quality of spray or roll on epoxies?

Speaker A:

You don't have the ability to traditionally plaster the inside of it or pebble the inside of it so you could tile it.

Speaker A:

There's other options, but they all pose their own risks that ultimately will leave you swimming in rust and having to redo it.

Speaker A:

So how can you not have to worry about that?

Speaker A:

And fiberglass was the answer.

Speaker A:

Fiberglass is.

Speaker A:

It's an actual pool that is inside the container that seals everything up.

Speaker A:

You have your, your fiberglass shell.

Speaker A:

My.

Speaker A:

I specifically shoot my fiberglass shells three times greater than the national standard.

Speaker A:

And there's.

Speaker A:

There's insulation that's built into it, plus that gives me a separation or a gap in between the container wall, allowing me to insulate the inside of the container and not with your standard spray foam insulation.

Speaker A:

This is a. I use a ceramic insulation that goes on very thin.

Speaker A:

That way I still have the ability to Run plumbing in between the walls and the fiberglass.

Speaker A:

Or if something goes wrong, you still.

Speaker A:

You don't have to cut into insulation to get to it.

Speaker A:

So once that problem was solved through the fiberglass shell, then it's just figuring out how to maintain.

Speaker A:

Illustrating that to customers or potential customers about how that's a superior product, why it's a superior product, how it saves them.

Speaker A:

Term.

Speaker A:

And the really cool thing about fiberglass is really easy to maintain.

Speaker A:

You use less chemicals, and especially whenever you couple it with the right equipment.

Speaker A:

It is a easy, seamless pool to operate, which we can get into here in a minute.

Speaker A:

But the fiberglass, I'll finish with this.

Speaker A:

The fiberglass is a gel coat finish, so it's just like a boat is finished.

Speaker A:

And I have texture on the steps.

Speaker A:

And actually I have a new mold that's being released in another few months that will have texture on the floor as well.

Speaker A:

So that way it just.

Speaker A:

Just helps your kids as they're swimming around or you as you're swimming around, that slip around as much.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker A:

Yeah, we absolutely love the fiberglass because of.

Speaker A:

Of the benefit that it gives to our clients.

Speaker B:

Yeah, I mean, it surely gives it a great esthetic point, you know, look.

Speaker B:

And I think it's.

Speaker B:

I think it's a good thing.

Speaker B:

You know, one of the things that I've been, you know, thinking about, you know, and for all our listeners out there, you'll be able to see a link on the Boxcar Universe website very shortly that will have some information there about the container.

Speaker B:

Container home communities that I am trying to put together for homeless veterans and sharing that with investors that are interested in being involved in the project.

Speaker B:

And I think in the design of putting together something like that, you know, container pools would be a perfect addition to the community.

Speaker B:

I mean, to be able to do it.

Speaker B:

I mean, you have container homes.

Speaker B:

Why not have some container pools in the.

Speaker B:

In there as well so that people can share it?

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And when I think of those communities, I think, you know, you get all the ease of install and all the benefits that comes with that.

Speaker A:

But then I go to the therapy aspect of it.

Speaker A:

So you have the therapy aspect, which we can retrofit the pool to have different.

Speaker A:

I mean, you can do swim systems, treadmills, bikes that are underwater bikes, a number of things.

Speaker A:

But then you just.

Speaker A:

You have the sound of running water and the therapy that that alone provides.

Speaker A:

So that's where my mind goes to is like how.

Speaker A:

How this benefits those that are in the community from the very beginning of how Easy it is to install it through past the install.

Speaker A:

How easy it is to maintain then the actual physical and psychological benefits that you get from the therapy systems.

Speaker A:

And then just running water and having that sound.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Is the sound effect in its light.

Speaker B:

You know, I can, I can relate to that.

Speaker B:

To be able to think if anybody has the same feelings I do about, you know, like, when I need to escape.

Speaker B:

And I said, you know, being from the East Coast, I was always used to going to Long island to go to the beaches on the Atlantic.

Speaker B:

And when I was a kid, my mom and dad used to take us there almost every week.

Speaker B:

Like my brother, I think he got.

Speaker B:

He OD'd on going to the beach when he got older, he just didn't want to go to the beach anymore.

Speaker B:

But I like to go to Coronado.

Speaker B:

And, you know, after, you know, you're busy, you're doing, you know, remodeling work, you're doing media work.

Speaker B:

And all of a sudden and it's.

Speaker B:

We all need to take a break and get away from what we're doing to kind of recharge the power cells, you know, but just to lay on the beach and you, like you say, you hear the water while you hear the ocean.

Speaker B:

I mean, in that alone, if you live, you're totally relaxed and everything else, not to mention it'll help, It'll help your brain, like actually, you know, calm down and relax along with your body, just relaxing.

Speaker B:

With the different therapy that you can put in the pool to help your body and take care of some of those aches and pains.

Speaker B:

It's.

Speaker B:

It's a great thing to have.

Speaker B:

And if you are, if you have the availability to be able to have something like that in your backyard, then I think, you know, a container pool is exactly what you need to have.

Speaker B:

You know, have Matt build for you because there are some.

Speaker B:

It is a great product, but we're going to take a short break.

Speaker B:

When we come back, we're going to have more with Matt.

Speaker B:

ttle more about the trends in:

All right, we are back and you're listening to Boxcar Universe.

Speaker B:

And I am here with Matt Walton from Contain your pools.

Speaker B:

And we are talking about why you don't have a container pool in your backyard.

Speaker B:

And this is the question that I have for everyone.

Speaker B:

If you want a pool and you have the space, let's do something very, I want to say classy and it's in its, I would say would fall in the category of luxury item.

Speaker B:

What do you think?

Speaker A:

Oh, yeah, absolutely.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

If you go to my Instagram, which is containurpools, you'll see a lot of very luxurious installs.

Speaker A:

They look awesome.

Speaker B:

Yeah, it'd be great.

Speaker B:

You know, we were talking the other day, you know, with you, with the advent of AI, you know, and everything else you know, you see, you know, you got to wonder, Matt, when you see some of these things that, you know, you know, you have to fall back on that old saying that we used to hear back in the 80s, you know, is it live or is it Memorex?

Speaker B:

Because you don't know if it's real or if it's AI, you know.

Speaker B:

But I had a great idea for a marketing thing for your company.

Speaker B:

I want to have somebody, you know how they always show all the people on top of, like, the different hotels in Vegas, like the Strat, and they're standing on top and they got all these crazy rides where they hang people off the edge of the building.

Speaker A:

Yep.

Speaker B:

Okay, so I want to see this done in AI because I don't think anybody would have.

Speaker B:

Nobody would do this.

Speaker B:

But in AI, it would be cool.

Speaker B:

Somebody getting ready to dive off the top of the Strat into one of your container pools.

Speaker A:

I love it.

Speaker B:

You like that idea?

Speaker A:

Oh, yeah.

Speaker B:

I think we should find somebody to do that.

Speaker B:

I think it would make a great Instagram post.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I think we could get somebody doing skydiving or BASE jumping off of that and landing in it with their.

Speaker A:

With a parachute.

Speaker B:

Oh, that would be cool.

Speaker A:

I think I.

Speaker A:

We can actually.

Speaker A:

I've thought about that for some time, and I think we can actually find somebody to do that.

Speaker B:

I think that would be really cool to be able to do.

Speaker B:

And, you know, it's like everything else.

Speaker B:

You know, you always want to do something in marketing to get people's attention, because people would definitely remember that.

Speaker B:

Oh, my God.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I envision it driving the.

Speaker A:

The pools on the back of an 18 wheeler on a flatbed, and it's driving through Red Rock, which is some mountains here in Vegas.

Speaker B:

Sure.

Speaker A:

And you have a drone shot that's following it, and you have a guy that jumped out of a plane in a parachute that's.

Speaker A:

That's landing in the pool.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

It may have to be AI because of.

Speaker A:

Because of insurance and liability and all that, but it's.

Speaker A:

It's fun to think about.

Speaker B:

No, I think that would be really great and people would be really interested and you could use that.

Speaker B:

You could use that anywhere.

Speaker B:

I can identify with the red rocks, you know, well, like what we have up here in Sedona, you know, and then in talking about, you know, the Airbnb is.

Speaker B:

There are tons of them up north because that's where all the people from Phoenix escape to.

Speaker B:

When it gets this hot, they all just like, I'm going up for the weekend or I'm going to go up to Sedona and stay a week, you know, and they, they want to stay in a nice place that they can just relax and get away.

Speaker B:

Get away from the heat.

Speaker B:

And, you know, pools are one great way to do that.

Speaker A:

Yep.

Speaker B:

But let's talk a little bit of trends with container pools.

Speaker B:

u see coming down the pike in:

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So there's plunge pools, which is which container pools kind of fit that mold.

Speaker A:

Are just, just all the rage.

Speaker A:

So smaller compact pools that arrive ready to go are just getting more and more popular.

Speaker A:

It's been a trend for some time now, but just continuing to gain traction to get more and more popular.

Speaker A:

Because the cool thing is these things, they can accomplish all that you need them to accomplish with therapy systems.

Speaker A:

They're a whole lot bigger than what you think.

Speaker A:

I've got a picture of nine people with a bunch of big floaties swimming around in one of my eight by 20 container pools.

Speaker A:

And there's still plenty of room to spare.

Speaker A:

I see trends.

Speaker A:

A lot of, a lot of my, which I actually have some numbers, but a lot of my clients are going with electric covers now.

Speaker A:

That way they can turn a key and it automatically opens and closes the, the COVID And I see a lot of, I mean this has been going on for a while, but it's become a more and more popular of chemical free systems.

Speaker A:

So I do, I've done a lot of chemical free systems this year alone.

Speaker A:

A whole lot more than I did all of last year.

Speaker A:

So electric covers, chemical free systems and plunge style pools, which are smaller footprints arrive ready to go are continuing to increase in popularity.

Speaker B:

Well, and then.

Speaker B:

Yeah, I was just looking at a couple here on, on the website.

Speaker B:

You know, they have, I mean they're not really that much different, but it's just a smaller version of what you do.

Speaker A:

Exactly.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Yep.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I mean you can go 12, 16 foot long for a plunge style pool, you know, and then have it eight to eleven and a half or ten, ten and a half foot wide, a little bit shallower, you know, be about four foot.

Speaker A:

You can go to four and a half foot.

Speaker A:

But yeah, I mean it's, it's perfect for, for just about everybody.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

I mean, you know, and again, you could put something like this in like some of the pictures that I've seen online where you could put one of these inside an enclosed patio.

Speaker A:

Oh yeah.

Speaker B:

To be able to have it in there, especially you know, in, in colder climates, this would be great to have your.

Speaker B:

To be able to have something like this year round.

Speaker A:

Yep.

Speaker A:

Yeah, absolutely.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And that's where the covers come in and heaters.

Speaker A:

Regardless, it doesn't matter if you're in Phoenix or Vegas.

Speaker A:

You know, I always recommend a heater because of that extended swim season.

Speaker A:

You know, you can literally use these things year round.

Speaker A:

Don't have to winterize them.

Speaker A:

So that's, that's very important.

Speaker B:

Yeah, so that's good.

Speaker B:

So what are the kind of things besides these plunge pools are going On.

Speaker A:

Well, I would say one of the areas I'm moving into is.

Speaker A:

Is.

Speaker A:

Is even going a little bit larger.

Speaker A:

So there's a.

Speaker A:

There's a great market just in general for prefab pools, and it's continuing to grow.

Speaker A:

And so plunge pools fits within that, you know, medium size, which would be like an 8 by 20 or a 20 by 10, something like that.

Speaker A:

And then getting bigger, you know, going 30 to 40ft long and going a little bit wider, getting to about 11 and a half feet on the width.

Speaker A:

Those are very popular.

Speaker A:

You know, fiberglass is.

Speaker A:

I used to be the only guy doing fiberglass for container pools.

Speaker A:

And now there's a bunch of guys that are popping up that are trying to do it as well.

Speaker A:

And it's just.

Speaker A:

People see the benefit.

Speaker A:

It's just getting more popular with the buyer and with.

Speaker A:

With guys that are trying to build these things, so.

Speaker A:

And more power to them.

Speaker A:

No, no love lost at all.

Speaker A:

But, yeah, the market is.

Speaker A:

It's very, very exciting.

Speaker A:

I.

Speaker A:

One of the things that I am about to do personally is I've never done any marketing in Vegas, and so that's about to change.

Speaker A:

I'm working on that.

Speaker A:

It will actually be released in September.

Speaker A:

Some marketing stuff that I'm doing, so kind of on a different note, but I'm very excited about that because there's very little people that know about container pools.

Speaker A:

And I think if we just continue to get the word out there through marketing and just affiliate partnerships, I think this space has the potential to be the new wave in the pool industry.

Speaker A:

Just like it's starting to sweep the housing industry with prefabbed homes.

Speaker A:

And I think we're.

Speaker A:

We're in the same position with the prefab pools as well, so.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker B:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker B:

And there's a lot of people out there that actually, you know, they're.

Speaker B:

It.

Speaker B:

You know, when you started with container homes and then some of it, I think it.

Speaker B:

It went into some of these smaller ones, like some of the.

Speaker B:

The companies they've had on the show that actually provide temporary housing in disaster situations and stuff like that, like Hawaii and LA with their fire situation, it just exponentially grows.

Speaker B:

And I think that's something that it's good because I think every one of those has its own unique way of helping someone.

Speaker B:

And again, it's like one size doesn't fit all.

Speaker B:

You know, I think some people may be attracted one towards the other, and depending on their property and what they want to do, I think that is something that people need to take a Look at, it's like when people go buy a home, you know, one home doesn't fit, all because of their own preferences.

Speaker B:

So I think that, you know, I might say that probably the choice of your pool should reflect your personality and people may not understand that.

Speaker B:

And like, what is he talking about?

Speaker B:

Well, you know, there are so many different types of pools now that.

Speaker B:

Yeah, I think, I think it does.

Speaker B:

Should reflect your personality.

Speaker B:

Somebody who maybe wanted to do more water sports may want a different type of pool than somebody that wants to do therapy.

Speaker A:

Yeah, no doubt.

Speaker B:

So it's a little bit different.

Speaker B:

But I think, you know, we were talking earlier talking about the therapy aspect of it.

Speaker B:

I think there's a lot of, a lot of things that people, homeowners, or I should say homeowners or just the public can do with a container pool in, in the way of their own therapy.

Speaker B:

If their doctor prescribes certain types of water therapy, if they don't have the availability of going to a facility that they can have this at their home and they could have it designed especially for your type of therapy.

Speaker B:

Like you said, there are pools that you could have where you could have bike in the pool to help, to help, you know, your, your muscles and everything and what you're trying to rehabilitate.

Speaker B:

So I think it's, I think it's a good thing and, and people are seeing the value in it.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And you know what I'm.

Speaker A:

Honestly, what I see is when we start talking about therapy and all of that, it even goes further.

Speaker A:

I've started talking to a lot of people that are doing scuba businesses and that are doing like swim businesses where they're teaching kids to swim.

Speaker A:

And the really cool thing about a container pool is a price performer.

Speaker A:

And with prices starting at about 30 grand and just going up from there, but it is portable.

Speaker A:

That's a big thing.

Speaker A:

You can put a window in it.

Speaker A:

That's another big thing.

Speaker A:

So it's like I was talking to a company that I'm drawing a blank.

Speaker A:

They're on the east coast, but I can't remember exactly where.

Speaker A:

But they have a swim school and it's inside of a warehouse.

Speaker A:

And their goal is to have quite a few container pools inside of there, which at the end of the day was going to save them money.

Speaker A:

Not just save them money, but was going to help them because they weren't owning the building.

Speaker A:

If they decided to move into another building, were able to take the pools with them.

Speaker A:

And so it kind of met the needs of across the board for Them.

Speaker A:

So keep that in mind.

Speaker A:

If you're somebody out there that has a swim business or maybe a scuba business or even a therapy business, I don't care if it's for people or for pets.

Speaker A:

Our pools could potentially be a great, A great asset to what you offer.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Let me ask you a question.

Speaker B:

Now, suppose somebody would like a pool that's big, wider than your traditional, you know, 8 by 20.

Speaker B:

Say they wanted to have a wider pool, like a 12 foot, 12 by 20.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker B:

Is that, Is that doable along with a fiberglass insert, or is that something very custom?

Speaker A:

Yeah, no, it is.

Speaker A:

You've got to have the mold.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

So as long as you have the mold, then you can do whatever size that mold is.

Speaker A:

So it just comes down to that, you know, getting the mold and then building your pools off of that mold.

Speaker A:

So you can do anything, you know, as long as you have the mold.

Speaker A:

I.

Speaker A:

We can go small, large, medium, it just doesn't matter.

Speaker A:

We can even get into some.

Speaker A:

Some different shapes that aren't so much squares or rectangles if we have the mold.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

And then we can put those inside of a steel frame that again, it arrives ready to go.

Speaker A:

It doesn't have to be inside of a container.

Speaker A:

We can build our own containers.

Speaker A:

I did that a couple of years ago, built a 30 by 11 and a half.

Speaker A:

So, yeah, you can get into that.

Speaker A:

Now what I have, I personally have an 8 by 20.

Speaker A:

I'm working on a second 8 by 20 that's going to have a shelf, going to have stairs and a sun shelf or a sun deck.

Speaker A:

And then my next mold that I bring to the table is going to be a different shape and a different size.

Speaker B:

Yeah, because I mean, that, that would be.

Speaker B:

It would be interesting.

Speaker B:

And obviously, you know, if you did build.

Speaker B:

If you did build and build a wider pool, it wouldn't be any.

Speaker B:

It probably wouldn't be any much difference than, you know, when transporting it.

Speaker B:

Like, you would see a wide load going down the road of maybe a modular home.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I always.

Speaker A:

What I do is I don't want to get too.

Speaker A:

Because.

Speaker A:

So, yes, but the idea of a container pool and doing it larger than 11 and a half feet, let's just say I can go a couple inches wider than that.

Speaker A:

But ultimately your pool price is going to be really, really good.

Speaker A:

And then what's going to make it unaffordable for the bulk of people is the shipping when we go to wide loads or oversized loads.

Speaker A:

So I would stick.

Speaker A:

What I would do is just stick under 12, I would be about 11, 6, maybe 11, 8 on my width at the widest.

Speaker A:

That will save decline on shipping and I can just rinse and repeat that mold or that size pool over and over again and, and still be competitive on things because shipping's not blowing it out of the water.

Speaker B:

Yeah, no, shipping would definitely, definitely depending on how far you're going, is definitely going to, you know, add a lot of cause to it.

Speaker B:

But yeah, it's, it's, it's interesting.

Speaker B:

And again, you know, people need to know that, you know, don't trust everything that you see online because you just don't know.

Speaker B:

But it's good to have a consultation with Matt and give them your thoughts and what you'd like to build and what he can offer and see how if there can be a good match there so that this way he could start, you know, building your pool.

Speaker B:

Matt, what's the time again it takes to build an 8 by 20 pool?

Speaker B:

Your average, your average container pool?

Speaker A:

Yeah, I would say if you do not do a window or an electric cover, I could build them anywhere from two to six weeks, depending on what I have in stock.

Speaker A:

If you're doing an electric cover or a window, a window is going to add five weeks just because of cure times every time.

Speaker A:

An electric cover doesn't add that much time, but it's going to add, you know, about a week, week or so to the build time.

Speaker A:

So let's just say you go with something that would normally take two weeks because I have some stuff in stock.

Speaker A:

But then you want to add an electric cover and a window, then I would say eight weeks or so would be, would be the new build time.

Speaker A:

But yeah, two weeks on up.

Speaker A:

weeks as my average build for:

Speaker B:

Okay, well.

Speaker B:

And you know, that's not bad in the whole scheme of things.

Speaker B:

That's still less time if somebody wants to do pool, you know, in ground.

Speaker A:

Oh yeah.

Speaker A:

And it gives the clients, you know, a lot of time.

Speaker A:

It gives them that time to, to do their prep work, you know, to go get the slab poured or gravel done for the foundation and also have the electrical ran to the area.

Speaker A:

So it just gives them some time to do what they need to do on, on the, on the, in the backyard as well while we're building the pool.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

my goal going into next year,:

Speaker A:

The big goal of:

Speaker A:

So that way when anybody that's interested, I can, I can be able to crank the majority of pools out in about two weeks.

Speaker A:

So that's what I'm working towards.

Speaker A:

I'm moving some mountains right now to make that happen.

Speaker A:

So Lord willing,:

Speaker B:

Yeah, that's going to be real, that's going to be really good and it's going to be a great marketing arm or I should be marketing perspective tool to be able to use, to be able to, you know, have people come out say, you know, how fast could I get it?

Speaker B:

And I think that would probably be, I know if somebody said yeah, I could build your container pool and have it to you, you know, have it all built in two weeks, I think that would be pretty, pretty amazing.

Speaker B:

So I think that would be an advantage over your competition for sure.

Speaker A:

Absolutely.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

That plus just for the listeners to know, one of the things is certifications and engine.

Speaker A:

So my pools, they come fully engineered.

Speaker A:

ngs that as I head into later:

Speaker A:

So I'm always thinking through how can we remove friction points for the end user.

Speaker A:

And that's one of the next things that's in motion already is the right certifications, the right plans so we can send them out fast.

Speaker A:

Approvals by cities.

Speaker B:

That's really good.

Speaker B:

That's good news to hear.

Speaker B:

But Matt, we're going to take a break.

Speaker B:

When we come back, we're going to get into those new items in the way of equipment and other things that are coming down the pike in the container pool industry.

Speaker B:

So I want everybody to hang tight.

Speaker B:

We will be right back.

Hi, I'm Sean with Mr. Electric and I have a tip to help make your life better.

Speaker C:

One important reminder is to call a qualified electrician when you have frequent problems with blowing fuses or tripping circuit breakers.

Speaker C:

When a circuit breaker trips or a fuse blows, it's indicating that you have a problem with some other parts of the circuit.

Speaker C:

If your breaker trips more than once, you should have a qualified electrician come out and take a look at it.

Speaker C:

Contrary to what may be acceptable, you really shouldn't try to continuously try to reset the breaker because there may be a problem somewhere else down the circuit and you could be causing a fire hazard.

Speaker C:

There could be a loose connection or some other form of problem on the circuit and every time you reset the circuit breaker, it could be causing a spark at the other end.

Speaker C:

We recommend having a qualified electrician come out and check, check on the condition of the circuit and make sure that the circuit does not have any problems.

Speaker C:

And it could just be a bad breaker also.

Speaker C:

But you definitely want to have a qualified electrician check that out.

Speaker C:

To have someone come out from our team may only take a portion of a day, but it could potentially save you a lot of money or your life.

Speaker C:

And that's just another way Mr. Electric has the power to make your life better.

Speaker B:

Govern the future of sustainable lifestyle living.

Speaker B:

All right, we are back and you're listening to Boxcar Universe.

Speaker B:

And I guess, I guess you could say, Matt, this is the the splash show.

Speaker B:

Jump in your container pool and make a big splash and show off to your neighbors.

Speaker B:

I think that's the thing to do.

Speaker B:

y to it's, you know, we're in:

Speaker B:

And I'm sure you're seeing that.

Speaker B:

And I'm talking about size, versatility, something being able to be in, you know, container homes.

Speaker B:

You don't have a, you know, a lot of room, but everything has to, every space has to be utilized.

Speaker B:

And I'm sure you're seeing some, some unique trends in the container pool industry in the way of equipment.

Speaker A:

Yeah, you know, I touched earlier on the chemical free system.

Speaker A:

That's a big one.

Speaker A:

Another one that is, is starting to gain some more traction.

Speaker A:

It's just, it's just a, it's not fully, fully there yet, but it's a, it's a sense and dispenser, an auto, it recognizes your water chemistry and then it'll automatically dump liquid chlorine into your pool to bring it up to the right level.

Speaker A:

So those things are becoming more popular.

Speaker A:

There's some that are just continuing to become more and more popular that are these little floating devices that go inside your pool that read your water chemistry so that you know what to do, what you need to do and what you need to order to remedy.

Speaker A:

You know, maybe a, maybe a water chemistry that's out of balance.

Speaker A:

So we're seeing a lot of things on that and those are like some of the biggest ones.

Speaker A:

You know, for me it's, it's capitalizing on things that are going to make it easier for my client long term.

Speaker A:

So I do a lot of this chemical free systems, I don't do a lot of the, of the sense and dispense when it comes to your water chemistry.

Speaker A:

But my product, when you start to get in this space, you do things and then you recognize, okay, that accomplished these eight things, but there were still two things that it didn't remedy.

Speaker A:

And so you're just continuously looking to improve.

Speaker A:

So as an example, when I first started building container pools, I did your standard insulation, that was that panel insulation that you buy at Lowe's and you just glue it to the inside wall.

Speaker A:

Well, what you learn is that causes container rain on the inside just due to humidity and moisture that builds up and then ultimately that will cause your container to rust from the inside out.

Speaker A:

And, and I've I've since changed to a spray insulation.

Speaker A:

It's not a spray foam insulation, but it's a closed cell application that is a ceramic insulation that's really good at deflecting heat.

Speaker A:

It's a really good insulator, goes on really, really thin and really easy to work with and doesn't ever cause issues with container rain or anything along those lines.

Speaker A:

So my whole entire, the, all the walls inside the container are all protected with that.

Speaker A:

Then you start to recognize that, you know, there's like, at what points is there weaknesses if you will, or crevices where water can get into and ultimately cause maybe a rush streak or something like that.

Speaker A:

How can you remedy that so that it can be without rust and, and you eventually kind of move to stainless steel on some of the, some of the components of it.

Speaker A:

You, you silicone some other areas a little bit differently.

Speaker A:

That way it seals it up.

Speaker A:

You prime some areas a little bit differently.

Speaker A:

You use a special kind of paint that doesn't fade and delaminate over time and is a really high quality paint that can withstand all the weather being buried or not buried or sprinklers hitting them on a day to day basis without, you know, messing with them.

Speaker A:

So yeah, there's, I would say equipment and just across the board in general there's always, and this goes to life as well, just always looking how can we get better, how can we provide a better quality product that will ultimately make raving fans on the backside of it so that when they get a pool they don't go from being gung ho and really excited to oh my goodness, now I have this liability.

Speaker A:

And a part of that is making sure that, that the, that everything is done in my factory from programming to setting everything up that way it truly is a plug and play.

Speaker A:

And, and if that client does, or when the client does have to do some manual things to it, it's just making sure you have the right literature to show them so that it's really easy for them because you don't want to lose that raving fan once they get it.

Speaker A:

You want to continue to continue to, to, to, to have them be a big fan of their pool and of your business as well.

Speaker A:

So those are.

Speaker A:

I know I was all over the place with that equipment and just how we're building these things.

Speaker A:

But there's a lot of, a lot of improvements that are going to continue to happen as we pursue taking over this industry and providing the best quality.

Speaker A:

And last thing I'll say about that is quality is subjective.

Speaker A:

A lot of times.

Speaker A:

But we want to come in and really set the standard for that.

Speaker A:

And what does high quality mean?

Speaker A:

We want to be the standard.

Speaker A:

We want to be what that's measured up against.

Speaker A:

And so, so just for the listeners out there that are considering that, just know that, that your, your container pool has that in mind and is built in that way.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

What.

Speaker B:

Just for our listeners.

Speaker B:

So they understand.

Speaker B:

We talked about the, when you had mentioned the container rain.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker B:

Using those panels, and I'm sure that had to be, that had to be researched and found out over time.

Speaker B:

When that happened.

Speaker B:

How long did it take before.

Speaker B:

Do you know how long it took before they realized that putting that inside the container in that way had a negative effect and started rusting out the side of the container?

Speaker A:

Yeah, it was about a year, yeah, about a year.

Speaker A:

Maybe a year and a half or so at least before I was made aware of that issue.

Speaker A:

And again, you know, it's really, I'll say this too.

Speaker A:

A container is built to withstand rust.

Speaker A:

So as long as your container is made out of core 10 steel, that's C O R T and steel, then it has this copper built into it and actually rust.

Speaker A:

When you see rust, it's, it's, it.

Speaker A:

The reason why you see rust on the face of a container, it's actually this protective layer.

Speaker A:

So there's copper that's built into it that actually kind of strengthens it.

Speaker A:

So rust isn't so bad.

Speaker A:

I know it's.

Speaker A:

Cosmetically it can look bad, but these containers are built to withstand rust.

Speaker A:

They're built to cross the ocean time after time after time.

Speaker A:

So a lot of times when you see rust on the container, it's not a, it's not necessarily a bad thing.

Speaker A:

It can actually be a strengthening mechanism for the, on the, on the first layer of that container in.

Speaker A:

It takes 100 plus years for that thing to rust out.

Speaker A:

So it's like it's taking that knowledge and saying, okay, that's great knowledge to have and to know.

Speaker A:

But as a consumer, people still have a, A, a assumption about rust, and rightly so.

Speaker A:

So how can we alleviate that?

Speaker A:

And that's what we do, you know, by painting stainless steel caulking areas, there's an insulation on the inside so that you do not see that rust.

Speaker B:

Well, yeah, and that's, that's, that's good to know.

Speaker B:

What about the outside?

Speaker B:

What are the outside of the containers?

Speaker B:

When people say, well, are they, are they.

Speaker B:

Well, they're painted.

Speaker B:

What are they painted with?

Speaker B:

They're not painted with the same thing that they paint my stucco with that.

Speaker B:

That goes without saying.

Speaker A:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker A:

I mean we've painted it with a couple different products so a two part polyurethane with rust inhibitors.

Speaker A:

And then the second product that we have used is a Sherquil.

Speaker A:

It's a Sherman Williams paint that's meant for direct to metal applications.

Speaker A:

And I've really enjoyed both of them.

Speaker A:

I don't, I don't have so far I don't have a pro or a con for either one of them.

Speaker A:

I, I kind of made the jump just so.

Speaker A:

Just because one of them's non flammable and the other one is flammable.

Speaker A:

And I had to, I researched a bunch of different products to, to alleviate my need to have to go build a, build a paint booth and, and, and ultimately not compromise on the product.

Speaker A:

And so that's where it got me to using sure Quill and, and we're very, very happy with that.

Speaker A:

Again, it's a direct to metal and it's a, it goes on and it, and it really laminates or really adheres to that container very well when it's built to last.

Speaker A:

It's, it's resistant free.

Speaker A:

There's a number of benefits that come with with that paint regardless of which, which side of the house you go with.

Speaker A:

So, so yeah, the whole thing from the floor or excuse me, the, the I guess underside the container is coated either from the, the container factory or I do it inside my factory depending on which half of the container you go with.

Speaker A:

And then everything else is, is painted.

Speaker B:

And that's really good.

Speaker B:

That's the.

Speaker B:

To be able to know that it's, it's painted well and it's going to last.

Speaker B:

I think that's what's important because again I think people, people that I've spoken to, they have that mentality.

Speaker B:

Well it's a container, it's metal and like you said, well it, they rust I'm over time.

Speaker B:

But as long as you take those precautions to be able to negate a lot of those, I mean you know there's a lot you think about it, it's just a pool but there's a lot of engineering that goes into creat.

Speaker B:

Know a you know, hassle free container pool so that you don't have, you know, be trouble free and you know it just along with regular maintenance, you should be just fine.

Speaker A:

Yeah yeah, yeah.

Speaker A:

And, and we're getting better every single day.

Speaker A:

My, my goal is to truly have something one of these days that, that automatically balances the water and is a hundred percent automatic cleans itself.

Speaker A:

So we're working towards that as we speak right now.

Speaker A:

Simultaneously working towards having more products that will meet more of the needs of clients.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

And the coolest thing is I know we're about to wrap up, but I always, I want to add this is every single pool is going towards.

Speaker A:

All my guys are either in prison or just got out of prison or I met them out on the streets.

Speaker A:

When we go out and evangelize and share Christ with those here in Las Vegas.

Speaker A:

So just know it's, it's more than a pool for me.

Speaker A:

That's the vehicle to be able to make an impact.

Speaker A:

But contain your pools is, is developed in the way that I'm.

Speaker A:

I.

Speaker A:

Everything that I do is geared towards developing the human being.

Speaker A:

And so, so, so that's the care.

Speaker A:

Those are the individuals that are building your pools.

Speaker A:

And that's the heart behind that.

Speaker A:

And if you want to know more about that, just visit my website and I've got a whole, my actual whole homepage is about that.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And that's a great thing that you're doing for those guys in the community.

Speaker B:

And I'm sure that you've been doing this for a while up there with them.

Speaker B:

And I'm sure some people in the community, hopefully some of the politicians have.

Speaker A:

Noticed we're starting to gain some traction.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Especially as I move to create that ecosystem vision that God had given me a few years ago, which we can, we can talk about that another time.

Speaker A:

But there's, there's, there's a lot of interest and yeah, it's really, really cool, man.

Speaker A:

It's really, really cool to see people encouraged by that.

Speaker A:

And my whole thing is, is, is I want to encourage others to do something similar.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

They don't have to do exactly what I'm doing, but do what they're called to do to make an impact in the community.

Speaker A:

And, and we just so happen to, to, to be Christ followers and, and I always tie it to just making man, it's awesome.

Speaker A:

It gives me that why every single day, you know.

Speaker B:

Absolutely.

Speaker B:

That's what everybody needs.

Speaker B:

You know.

Speaker B:

And there's some companies that I've spoken down here in Phoenix that do not what you're doing, but something similar where they are helping some of the people that were incarcerated in trying to create a new career and help them to be able to, to build, to get out of where the situation they're at.

Speaker B:

And I share with them your story of what you're doing up there and they are just pretty amazed.

Speaker B:

They're pretty amazed at what you're doing.

Speaker A:

They.

Speaker B:

And they send you all kinds of compliments.

Speaker B:

I mean that, that's awesome.

Speaker A:

Thank you, Steve.

Speaker B:

It's pretty cool.

Speaker B:

It's pretty cool.

Yes, and I've seen those walkthroughs on Tick Tock and you know, people need to, they can actually.

Speaker B:

To be able to actually see those things going on and how it's put together is.

Speaker B:

It's just awesome.

Speaker B:

It's just not.

Speaker B:

It was just like.

Speaker B:

At least for me as a guy, you know, like when I see, you know, an automobile factory and how some of these automations that we've created over the years have now are assembling cars and how it's put together.

Speaker B:

How you put together anything, I think from a, from a man's point of view anyway, is something that's very interesting if you're a person who's mechanical and like those shows about, you know, how things are built, you know, especially like, you know, roads, these huge excavators that are put out there that like tower over us, that move mountains.

Speaker B:

I mean some of those things, I don't know how they build them, not to mention how they get there wherever they're going, but they're pretty amazing.

Speaker B:

But the technology behind it, to understand that what went into the design and the creation of what you're building is what they're paying for.

Speaker B:

And I think that goes into anything, especially like in a remodel project, you know, people understand like, oh, I don't know if I can get it done cheaper for this guy.

Speaker B:

I'm like, okay, well are you paying just for the job?

Speaker B:

Are you paying for the experience and the knowledge to get it done correctly with a person that is giving you the proposal?

Speaker B:

And a lot of times I think people just negate that knowledge.

Speaker B:

Part of it, you know, they say, well, there's a lot of people doing it well.

Speaker B:

Yeah, but there's not a lot of people doing it well.

Speaker B:

And what you're doing with the container pools are definitely doing it well.
